Golden Time - Planes and Oreos

For Golden Time we were given one jet plane to place on our forehead. We had to get the jet plane from our forehead, into our mouths, without using our hands! Holy Moly - so tricky! Once we had mastered that challenge we were given an oreo biscuit to do the same thing. Slightly easier - but not by much! Check out the superb facial expressions!

Week 11 Term 1

The holidays are just about upon us and we are all ready for a nice long break to recharge our batteries. Please help your children have a good week by ensuring they are going to bed on time, drinking plenty of water and eating healthy food.

School Shoes

These have an annoying tendency to break, or get lost, right before the end of term. If this should happen, children are allowed to wear their school winter shoes and socks.

ANZAC Day - a message from Mr Macmillan

During the holidays we celebrate ANZAC Day (Sunday 25th April). I am hoping to have a strong representation from our school attending the parade. If your child would like to join us and walk in the parade and participate in the Civic Ceremony at the Bay Trust Forum, Energy Events Centre, Queens Drive please make sure they are at the Lakefront Memorial (intersection of Fenton St and Whakaue Streets)  by 8.30am in their winter school uniform. Jersey, not fleece top. The ceremony concludes at the Energy Events Centre and should be over by 11.00am Parents are also invited to be part of the parade and service. Children just might want to be part of the parade. If you have a poppy your child can wear, please pin it on them. I will have some spare ones to give to children at the parade.  This is a very special ceremony so I do encourage our children to be part of this. ALL STUDENTS ARE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE.

TERM 2

  • Starts on Monday 3rd May at 8:45am

  • Full winter uniform is expected for all students - uniforms can be purchased from our uniform shop (open Mon/Fri 8:30am and Wed 2:30pm) or through the school app

Term 1 Week 10

We hope you all had a relaxing and safe Easter break. It’s been fantastic to have the longer weekend to recharge our batteries. Remember to bring your swimming gear each day this week. This is our last week of swimming until term 4.

Now is a good time to dig out winter uniforms to see what fits and how much your children have grown. Our uniform shop is open at school Monday and Friday mornings (8:30-9:00) and on Wednesday afternoons (2:30-3:00), or you can make a purchase through the school app and your purchase will be delivered to your child’s classroom.

Our learning focus this week:

In Literacy we are using our phonics to figure out unfamiliar words in reading and writing.

In Maths we are learning to add and subtract numbers using a range of counting strategies.

In Religious Education our focus is on Jesus’ resurrection.

Holy Week Activities

We have celebrated Holy Week in a number of ways. First, we had our Palm Sunday Liturgy. It was great to see so many children in their Jesus clothes.

Next, we had our Washing of the Feet and Last Supper Liturgy. The children did incredibly well with their acting skills.

And lastly, we had an Easter Egg Hunt before we were allowed our Easter treats. There were 72 eggs to be found and that last egg sure was hiding well!

Term 4 Week 9 - Last week of the school year

This is our last few days together in Kakano 1-3. We have lots going on this week. It has been a sheer pleasure teaching your little cherubs...
